Oh My Goodness, Oh my Goodnes!!!

I am so excited I think I just might pee my pants!!!  Well not really but I am super excited.  I have found some great pieces of furniture to refinish for great prices.  Well on Thursday night I saw this posting on KSL for an antique medicine chest for free.  She asked for calls between 9-3 the next day.  I was so all over it.  I left the window open so at 9 I could call her and claim this lovely piece for my very own.  Fate had different plans however I woke up Friday morning at 3 with the stomach flu.  YUCKY, can I just say that is the worst stomach bug I have had in years and maybe my whole life!!  I was super sad when I looked again and it was gone.  There was another piece I thought my mom would like so I sent the link to her.  So Saturday the chest was back up!!!  I was so excited, I called her and it was spoken for but she said if she didnt hear back from the lady the were both mine.  Later that day my mom swung by took a peek and liked the piece I saw for her.  So that afternoon the lady hadn't called back and my dad and Lance went to pick up our cool new pieces.  I forgot to tell Lance the medicine chest was mine so it got delivered to my sisters basement for storage :(  So that is why there are no pictures but I am super excited, I havent seen the piece in person but I am told buy the handsome hubby that there is a lot of potential in it :)  Lance found a newspaper in great condition from July 3, 1937.  He wanted to throw it out, I said heck no!!!!

So that is my big long story about how excited I am to have an antique piece of furniture that I have no idea where it is going to go or how I am going to refinish it.

So do you want to see????

I got the piece of furniture finished for the give away.  Can I just tell you how excited I was to keep it give it away.  I think out of all the pieces I have done this one just might have been my favorite so far.   Before I show you the pictures I just want to tell you a little about Petra.  She is super thrifty she even has a blog about being thrifty Frugalityville  Petra was born in England, like one of the oldest countries in the world.  When she was young her parents and family moved to the states.  They moved to Maryland.  On of the oldest states there is.  She has such a rich heritage, I wanted this piece to reflect her history.  I know I am a little silly but that is the kinda things I think about when I am doing a piece of jewelry or whatever for a specific person.
So without further ado, here it is.  Please don't mind my poor point and shoot camera skills......
 Before
Mike this one is for you.

After

Oh and check out the little mirror I found at the DI for 1.50.  I have been lusting over the Krylon Celadon Green.  I have been waiting for just the right piece to do, which is funny because I have that color green in 4 areas of the house.

Before, don't you just love the detail

Meatloaf, beatloaf, double double meatloaf.

Once again can you name that movie?  Nobody even guess last time :(  So I have nothing against meatloaf my mom made it when I was a kid and I ate no big.  So as a married adult I have learned that the Hubby really likes meatloaf.  I have made it a few times with different recipes and sometimes I just make it up on the fly.  Well I made one up the other night and the Hubby went nuts!!  He loved it!!  He and the littlest monkey were fighting over the last pieces.  So I decided I had better write this one down.

Mesquite Meatloaf with a Honey Hickory Glaze

1 1/2 lbs ground meat of your choice ( I use turkey)
1 egg
3/4 cup panko bread crumbs
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp mesquite seasonings
1-2 squirts worchestchire sauce
Mix all ingredients together and shape into a loaf in a greased loaf pan.  Bake at 400 for about 30 minutes.  Add glaze to top and return to oven for about 10-15 more minutes or until done.
Glaze:
1/2 cup bbq sauce (your favorite flavor) I used and liked Kraft Honey Hickory
1/4 cup catsup
1/4-1/3 cup brown sugar.

We ate it with mashed baby gold potatoes and corn on the cob.
Sorry there are no pics because dinner was late getting on the table and it was gone before I could blink!!

And the Winner is........Dry Shampoo

Okay so the winner isn't dry shampoo the winner is.......

Petra Collins!!!

You were all assigned a number by your comment. And I used a random number generator to pick the number.

Let me tell you all that I wanted to pick you all!! For real. Like I said before I love giving gifts, and I love giving personal gifts so perhaps I will be doing another give away shortly.

On to the second part of this post about Dry Shampoo.

So this might get a little TMI but I hope you will understand :) I only wash my hair every 3 days. But since I turned the big 3 ohhhh, my hair has gotten a little oilier. I also have eczema on my scalp. Really crummy I know!!! So I have seen dry shampoos at beauty supply stores they run from 12-24$$ I am hesitant to spend that kinda money when I am not sure how they would work. So I was super excited when I found this recipe for homemade on Petite Elephant. I tried this and I was amazed!! My hair was no longer flat, stringy and greasy! It was like I had just washed it. The other bonus is the oats in it calmed my eczema! YAY!!! So give it a try and tell me what you think.
